A Chili’s customer attempting a cheese pull became part of the viral sensation, but not in the way she had hoped.

The mishap, shared by creator Kailin Siler (@ksiler3310) on Nov. 8, has since racked up over 4 million views. In the video, Siler confidently prepares to perform the popular TikTok challenge: pulling apart a mozzarella stick to see how long the cheese will stretch.

However, her attempt takes an unexpected turn when, as she starts pulling, what seems to be hot water (or possibly grease) squirts out of the mozzarella stick. Startled, she recoils and drops the stick, and the video abruptly cuts to black.

As for the Triple Dipper, the appetizer plate before her was part of another viral trend. Chili’s has seen a surge in sales, partly thanks to TikTok, where its Triple Dipper platter has become a fan favorite.

The platter includes customizable options like boneless wings, sliders, mozzarella sticks, chicken tenders, and egg rolls, served with three sauces. Though it has been around for years, the dish recently exploded on TikTok, with over 150 million posts dedicated to it.

In addition, Chili’s appetizer sales have jumped by 70% in the past year, accounting for 11% of the chain’s total sales.

As for the cheese pull fail, commenters were quick to share their thoughts.

One joked,

“Not the mozzussy squirts,” while another,

“As someone who works at Chili’s, the cheese sticks are VIOLENT.”

Many agreed with Siler’s reaction, with one person commenting,

“Totally fair reaction—That liquid is lethal.”

Another asked,

“Why did you throw it? Did it burn?”

Siler confirmed, replying, “It was hot and burnt my fingers.”
