Toyota-Mazda Collaboration Delivers the 2025 CX-50 Hybrid: A Perfect Blend of Luxury and Reliability

The new collaboration between Toyota and Mazda is being praised for delivering a premium combination of luxury and reliability with the 2025 CX-50 Hybrid. A recent review highlights the vehicle as the “best of both worlds,” bringing a fresh perspective to the car market while also evoking nostalgia for one of Mazda’s previous successful partnerships.

Executive Auto Group, a Connecticut car dealership, recently shared their excitement for the CX-50 Hybrid in a TikTok video that has already racked up over 153,800 views.

Toyota-Mazda Collaboration Review

In the video, Executive Auto Group showcases the blend of Toyota and Mazda technologies, focusing on the hybrid engine that’s essentially the same as the one found in the Toyota RAV4. “Toyota and Mazda partnered up to put a Toyota RAV4 hybrid system in the CX-50,” the representative explains.

Pointing out the engine, the rep adds, “It says Mazda, but that’s technically a Toyota engine.” He continues, “With the reliability of Toyota and the luxury of Mazda, it creates an all-in-one perfect vehicle for just under $40,000.”

The CX-50 Hybrid is also highlighted for being manufactured in the United States, specifically in Alabama.

Mazda’s Previous Partnership with Ford: The Mazda B3000

A viewer in the comments section recalled a previous successful collaboration between Mazda and Ford. Ash (@ash180549) noted, “Y’all remember when Ford and Mazda partnered up and made the Mazda B3000? It looks like a 90s Ford Ranger with the Mazda logo slapped on it.”

From 1994 to 2009, Mazda offered the B3000 pickup truck, which was essentially a rebadged version of Ford’s popular Ranger. According to CNET, “Besides different grilles and emblems, the Mazda version was identical to the Ford.”

This partnership came about when Ford owned a third of Mazda until 2008, when the company began selling off its shares due to the recession.

Does Toyota Own Mazda?

As pointed out in the video, the CX-50 is manufactured at Mazda Toyota Manufacturing (MTM) in Huntsville, Alabama, a joint venture between the two companies. MTM produces both the Toyota Corolla Cross and the Mazda CX-50 on separate assembly lines.

However, as clarified by the rep, Toyota and Mazda are partners in the manufacturing process, but neither company owns the other.
