‘I had to do my own makeup on my wedding day.’
Bride Claims Celebrity Makeup Artist Canceled Her Wedding Day Appointment for Paris Hilton’s Glam Session.
A bride, Cortney De Voe (@cortneydevoe) recently shared on TikTok how Las Vegas-based celebrity makeup artist Andrew Ybarra, also known as Andrew Saint Andrew, canceled her wedding appointment the night before, allegedly to do makeup for Paris Hilton. In her video, which has garnered over 3 million views, De Voe explains that Ybarra texted her around 9 p.m., just hours before her wedding day, to cancel due to a “family emergency.” She had secured Ybarra’s services a month in advance with a deposit.
When Ybarra recommended a replacement artist, De Voe was only given the artist’s Instagram, not her direct contact. The backup artist later revealed that she hadn’t been booked or received a deposit, contrary to Ybarra’s assurances. Still, the backup artist offered to step in.
The following day, De Voe was informed that Ybarra had gone to Los Angeles for a last-minute job with Paris Hilton, rather than for a family emergency. Checking his Instagram, De Voe discovered Ybarra’s posts from an event in LA, with captions hinting at his reason for being there. “I screen-recorded it,” she shares in her video, advising brides to “avoid celebrity makeup artists on their wedding day.”
Ybarra’s Response
In a follow-up, De Voe claims that after her video went viral, Ybarra began calling her repeatedly. In a message, he accused her of “using this moment for likes,” maintaining that he truly had a family emergency. However, when pressed about his Instagram posts, Ybarra stated he was only attending a Paris Hilton concert, not working as her makeup artist.
Ybarra told the Daily Dot he experienced a family emergency after the concert, which led him to cancel De Voe’s appointment for her wedding day.
Other Brides Speak Out
Several women commented on De Voe’s TikTok, sharing similar experiences with Ybarra. Some alleged that he canceled last-minute, even on the day of their weddings, citing various personal emergencies but later posted from other locations.
While the incident has raised questions about Ybarra’s professional ethics, it’s also sparked a discussion on how brides can better protect themselves when booking services for their wedding day.
